The Remnant - http://myspace.com/remnantmusic -
The Remnant is your mom's favorite rap group and your grandmother's third favorite. They've been putting it down like it's too heavy since 1999 when they all met as freshman at Morehouse College in Atlanta. What started out as a nerdy excuse to stay in on Friday nights freestyling and playing video games soon developed into an avenue for travelling the country every day of the week. They've hipped and/or hopped in the church that stands next to Ground Zero in New York as well as the K-Mart in Peachtree City, Georgia. They've shared the stage with Mars Ill, Glue, The Awkward Romance, Pigeon John, Souls of Mischief, Alex Trackstar, and Mr. Licky the charismatic and overly affectionate puppet. Their album "The After School Special" has received glowing reviews around the internet. They've been written about in Creative Loafing and Southeast Performer. They're regular guys with regular jobs: Niles is a librarian, Adan Genesis is a search engine optimizer, and Just John is...well, we don't really know what he does but it's probably boring. They rap though. And they're really really good at it. The first time they opened for The Awkward Romance they had a crowd of scene kids waving their hands and shouting like they forgot they didn't like hip hop. Their newest album, PB&J, is dedicated to everyone who's ever been dumped as well as everyone who did the dumping. The Remnant doesn't make good rap, they make good music.
